Achieving Growth

CURA AMAZÔNIA
In 2023, we requested permission to enter the historic territory of Largo de São Sebastião, an architectural complex that houses Brazilian heritage in Manaus. There, we sowed germinating thoughts and images with the knowledge of the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
Joining forces with the local urban art scene, we transformed two gable walls into art murals, featuring works by indigenous artists: Denilson Baniwa, born in Barcelos (AM), and Olinda Silvano, from Peru. We also brought in "Entities," an installation by Jaider Esbell from Roraima. With them, knowledge and mysteries came to inhabit Largo São Sebastião.
In 2024, we returned for a second edition. During the 10-day festival, two new murals from Cura Amazônia came to life.
The artworks of Duhigó and Rember Yahuarcani now stand out in the urban landscape of downtown Manaus, alongside the murals from the first edition. Together, they form the Amazonian Mural Art Viewpoint.
The second edition of Cura Amazônia challenged imaginary limits: the gable of the Monte Carlo building has 470.40 m² of painted area and that of the Monaco building has 879.72 m² of painted area.
